Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority warns that it is illegal to fly kites in areas affiliated to Airports.
Civil Aviation Services Director General H.M.C. Nimalsiri said that the public are advised to refrain from flying kites within the 5 km range to airports.
The Civil Aviation Chief pointed out that flying kites near the airports is a threat to flight safety and accidents may be caused by kites colliding with aircraft.
The Civil Aviation Services Director General said flying kites near airports is an illegal act and it is a punishable offence.
