Sri Lanka Premier challenges other political parties to act against the corrupted in their own parties

Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday pointed out that the United National Party, which he leads, took prompt measures to investigate the allegations of fraud and corruption raised against members of his party while other political parties were just speaking of corruption and fraud and challenged the other political parties also to follow suit against the corrupt in their midst.

Speaking at a public rally held in Matale town to ensure the victory of the UNP candidates contesting for the Local Government elections in that district, the Premier said the UNP is the only party that is open and transparent.

“We always stand against corruption. If our people are accused of corruption and have been found guilty of such practices we asked them to leave. But other parties even if there are corrupted and thieves among them, they just shout in parliament, they have no action plan, the blame the UNP but it is only the UNP which cleans its party,” the Premier said.

“There is no point in blaming the UNP when they do not clean up their own party. I challenged them to show that they also have the courage to remove their own from tomorrow,” the Premier said.
