Suspects of Kandy unrest remanded until May 2

The suspects including Amith Jeevan Weerasinghe, the leader of extremist organization Mahason Balakaya, arrested for the attacks on Muslims in Kandy have been further remanded.

Theldeniya Magistrate N.M. Farikdeen remanded the 17 suspects until May 2 when they were produced in the court today.

The suspects were arrested by the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) on March 6 for allegedly inciting violence against the Muslims in Theldeniya, Digana area in the Kandy Administrative district in early March.
