“ARA San Juan” Argentine – the long wait for a missing sub

It has been 12 days since the Argentina’s Submarine ARA San Juan went missing. Relatives of crew members gathered at submarine’s naval base on Saturday, Noveremb 26, to take part in a religious ceremony. They were joined by hundreds of supporters. Some have begun mourning for their loved ones, fearing that it is too late for them to be found alive. The sub went missing on November 15, when ARA San Juan was returning from a routine mission in Ushuaia near the southern-most tip of South America, when the vessel reported an “electrical breakdown”. Former Argentina Vice-President Amado Boudou arrested

Amado Boudou, who had been former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez’s Economy Minister and Vice President, was arrested on corruption charges on Friday, becoming the second major official in her government to face detention. Police arrested Boudou and an alleged associate, Jose Maria Nunez Carmona, in an upscale neighborhood of Buenos Aires for racketeering and money laundering. Boudou was arrested by coast guards in his apartment located in an affluent neighborhood of Buenos Aires and was brought before federal Judge Ariel Lijo to be questioned. Local television channels showed a gloomy Boudou in handcuffs, wearing a bullet-proof vest and a black T-shirt as he was being taken away by the guards.
