CICT, National Chamber of Exporters establish strategic partnership

Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) the only South Asian terminal that provides a state of the art facility, equipped to handle the largest vessels afloat, has joined hands with the NCE, as the strategic partner of the Chamber. The agreement was signed for a period of 3 years from June 2018. NCE will engage in activities to create awareness about CICT and its services to Member Exporters of NCE. Also CICT will be sponsoring the 26th NCE Export Awards 2018, the flagship event of the Chamber. Colombo Port aims to handle 7 million containers this year

Colombo Port expects to handle 7.0 million containers in 2018, up 12.9 percent from the 6.2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) handled in 2017 with joint marketing by three terminals, Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said. Transshipments at Colombo Port up by 20.4-pct in January

Transshipment operations at the Port of Colombo have shown a significant increase in January this year against last year amid an increase in productivity, Sri Lanka Ports Authority said. Accordingly against 362,451 transshipment TEU operations in January 2017, together with the JCT, SAGT and CICT, the Colombo Port has recorded 436,303 transshipment TEU operations for the month of January this year marking a competitive increase of 20.4 percent.
