CMC launches ‘Online Construction Permit’ platform to expedite process

Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has launched an ‘Online Construction Permit’ platform, today (21) to expedite the process of obtaining a construction permit. Issuing a media release, CMC stated that with this system in effect, construction permits can be obtained within two weeks while the applicant only has to visit the Municipal Council twice. Strict legal action against people indiscriminately disposing waste in Colombo city

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) requests the public to sort the garbage in a recommended manner and provide it to the relevant garbage disposal vehicles. Issuing a statement, the CMC said people in the city have been informed of the requirement to sort the garbage but it is not happening properly. Accordingly, the public was informed to sort the garbage before handing over for disposal and strict punishment will be imposed for failing to sort the waste. The CMC also said that the law will be strictly enforced against those who dispose waste illegally on the streets.

Ranil Wickremesinghe says a ten year plan will be implemented to solve problems in the capital city of Colombo. Addressing a public meeting at Wellawatte on Monday in support of the United National Party candidates, the Prime Minister said the successive governments has forgotten the Colombo city since 1994 except during the two years the United national Party was in the government.
