President Maithripala Sirisena has advised the Secretary for Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training to prepare a proposal for finding solutions to fill the shortage of workers in the construction field. AG to appoint three-member committee to study LG Election procedures

The Attorney General’s Department has taken steps to appoint a three-member committee comprising of lawyers, to look into the legal procedures of the Local Government Elections. Attorney General, Jayantha Jayasuriya says that the court case pertaining to the Local Government Elections, which is filed at the Appeals Court, will be analysed by the newly-appointed committee. A special discussion was held in Galle yesterday (Nov 18) between people in the Gintota area, security divisions, both Buddhist and Muslim religious leaders and people's representatives. Committee to look into petrol vessel delay to present report

The committee, which was appointed to look into the delay of the vessel carrying a stock of petrol to the country, will present its report to the cabinet today, November 14. According to the Media Minister of Special Assignments, Dr. Sarath Amunugama, who is also a member of the committee, the aspects mentioned in the report will be discussed further at the cabinet meeting. The three appointed members of the committee were Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Patali Champika Ranawaka and Dr. Sarath Amunugama. Just when Sri Lanka thought the SAITM problem is done and dusted, there are reports to say it is  not. President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed another committee, this time with nine members, to probe further i to the issues surrounding SAITM’s Private Medical College.
