UNP Working Committee suggests measures to expedite court cases
The Working Committee of the Ruling United National Party (UNP) has proposed several measures to expedite the court cases and bring justice to the affected people.
The Working Committee pointed out that under the current justice system, the average period for examining one case takes about 10 years, and another 7 years are needed for two appeals.
The UNP Working Committee, stressing that it is a timely need to minimize the time taken to finish a court case, has suggested several measures, at the Working Committee meeting at the UNP headquarters, Sirikotha yesterday.
Accordingly the Working Committee has approved the following;
1. Appointing three judges for every anti-corruption high court
2. Paving way to submit appeals against high court rulings directly to the Supreme Court...
