Taverns and bars in non-curfew areas will be opened under restrictions from today (13), the Department of Excise has announced.
According to the Department, liquor stores at supermarkets in Colombo and Gampaha districts will also be allowed to resume sales.
Liquor stores, bars and taverns were forced to halt their operations following the imposition of curfew due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka.
However, on April 19, liquor stores were granted permission to resume sales while strictly adhering to the health guidelines and curfew regulations.
Two days later, the government announced that all liquor shops island-wide will be closed until further notice, due to non-adherence to social distancing instructions.
