A 34-year-old man from the Kendalanda area in Kuruwita police division has been killed after his wife attacked him with an axe, the Police said.
The murder has taken place last night (8), when his 31-year-old wife attacked him from behind with an axe.
The victim had been admitted to Rathnapura hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries early morning today (9).
The police said that the deceased husband is known to have harassed his wife from time to time after being intoxicated.
The wife had used to take refuge at neighboring houses with the 2 children to escape from the husband.
On the night of the murder too, the victim had come to attack the wife with a sharp weapon and a bottle of acid. The murder has taken place when the wife retaliated.
The suspect woman has been arrested and the Kuruwita police are conducting further investigations.
