Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is to lay the foundation stone for the construction of the oil refinery and the cement factory in Hambantota on his birthday, the 24th of this month, Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa said.
The Minister made this observation participating in the ceremony held yesterday (10) to declare open the Senasiligama model village built in the Bandagiriya area in the Hambantota district.
The Minister said starting these large projects will provide employment to the unemployed young people in the area strengthening the national economy.

The Minister said the two projects were limited to words in the past but the government under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena and with the vision of Prime Minister will start construction under the supervision of Minister Malik Samarawickrema.
