No approval for first Mihin Board

The Presidential Commission probing alleged irregularities at SriLankan Airlines, Mihin Lanka and SriLankan Catering has found that the first Board of Directors of Mihin Lanka had been appointed without any approval from the then government.

Mihin Lanka was set up by a lackey of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Sajin Vass Gunawardena, during the former Rajapaksa regime.

The airline, which was Sajin’s brainchild, was expected to be a state run budget airline. However, the airline ended up running into massive losses amounting to millions of rupees.
