Deputy Minister of Environment Ajith Mannapperuma says that there will be a big revision in state sector employees’ salaries and working people’s wages following next week according to the special commission appointed to review public sector salaries.
Speaking at a press conference held at the UNP headquarters Sunday, the Deputy Minister said that the report of the Special Presidential Commission to review Public Sector Salaries will be released next week.
The Deputy Minister said the massive salary increase in history was given by the Yahapalana government when it came to power in January 2015 and salaries of public servants will be increased this January also.
“As soon as we came to power, we granted 10,000 rupees in addition to the salary. Although Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa said he will increased salaries he did not work towards it. Therefore, he has no right to ask about salary increases,” he said.
Deputy Minister Mannapperuma said the report of the salary anomalies commission is to be released next week and accordingly, there will be a great revision in wages in the country. Some justice can be meted to those who have been subjected to injustice through this commission, he said.
He said the government has strengthened the public servants through the commissions for them to carry out their duties independently.
