Government has imposed a temporary ban on social media platforms such as Whatsapp and Facebook, stated the Government Information Department.
This is owing to the tense situation which arose in Negombo yesterday (05) following a clash between two groups in Kochchikade.
Security forces had curtailed the situation; however, police curfew was imposed in the Negombo, Kochchikade, Katunayake, Divulapitiya, Kotadeniyawa, Pamunugama, Raddolugama, Seeduwa, Dungalpitiya and Katana police divisions.
Accordingly, Whatsapp, Viber, Facebook and other social media platforms are banned until further notice
