Nearly 45,000 consumers are experiencing electricity breakdowns in Ratnapura, Kegalle, Galle, Matara, Kurunegala and Hambantota districts, says the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
The CEB said that the prevailing dire weather condition resulted in the power outages in the aforementioned districts.
These areas were adversely affected by the heavy rainfall that continued for the past few days.

In the meantime, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) issued landslide warnings for 8 districts – Galle, Matara, Matale, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Kegalle, Colombo, Kurunegala and Kandy today (16).
Minor flooding has been reported in several areas across the country including Kegalle district.
