Police train K9 Units to detect dengue breeding grounds

Two K9 Units have been successfully trained to detect dengue breeding grounds by the Sri Lanka Police Kennels Division.

Police K9 Units ‘Jenny’ & ‘Roma’ attached to the Kandy Police Kennels have been trained for this task, said Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana while speaking to News1st.

The two units will be assigned to the operations carried out by the Environment Division of Sri Lanka Police, while supporting the efforts of Health Inspectors to crackdown on dengue breeding grounds.

A decision was reached to train around 200 other K9 Units in the Police Kennels Division following the success of the training, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana further said.
