Nearly five hours of power cuts have been announced for Wednesday (Tomorrow).
“Request made by CEB was approved by PUCSL for rotational power cuts for tomorrow (23) due to shortage of fuel supply. 4 hours and 40 minutes for areas of A,B, C and 4 hours & 30 minutes in the other areas” Janaka Ratnayake, Chairman PUCSL said.
“About 4000 metric tons of fuel is required daily to generate electricity.Today (February 22) there was a shortage of 2000 metric tons of fuel.As a result, 550 mega watt power plants were shut down.Tomorrow’s fuel requirement is 4,000 metric tons. But only 1000 metric tons are supplied. Accordingly, the fuel shortage for tomorrow is 3000 metric tons.If there is such a shortage, 750 MW will be withdrawn from the national grid.” he added.
“There will be two hours power cut in the morning and the rest in the night” PUCSL chairman said.
