Sri Lanka’s business tycoon DHAMMIKA Perera is set to be appointed as Minister in charge of Investment Promotion with specific responsibility to increase the flow of foreign exchange into the country.
His position will be of Cabinet ranking and Mr Perera is expected to start work immediately after receiving his letters of appointment from President Gothabya Rajapaksa.
In 2013 Forbes Asia approximated his nett worth at USD 550 Million whilst Sri Lanka’s Rich List by Faraz Shauketaly aggregated his nett wealth at USD 538 Million.
Mr Perera controls several major conglomerates in Sri Lanka including Hayleys, Singer, Delmege, Pan Asia Bank amongst several notable corporates. His companies are collectively said to be a major contributor to the Inland Revenue Department.
