LankaLaw Strengthens Its Position as Sri Lanka’s Pioneer in Legal AI with Major New Upgrade

Since its launch in 2024, LankaLaw has established itself as the leading and pioneering force in legal artificial intelligence in Sri Lanka, transforming how legal professionals, students, and the wider public access legal information. Now, the platform has unveiled its latest version of its AI Assistant, offering one of the most comprehensive legal research ecosystems ever introduced in the country.

The upgraded system provides live access to a wide range of legal materials, including Acts of Parliament, amendments, regulations, and judgments from courts across Sri Lanka. This includes decisions from the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka, and other courts, allowing users to retrieve the latest official releases in real time. By consolidating legal information into one platform, LankaLaw removes the need for users to search across multiple websites and fragmented sources.

The latest release is aligned with a broader national digital initiative jointly driven by Chat2Find and Lanka Data to create an intelligent access layer for public data. This initiative follows the citizen-centric data infrastructure framework recently introduced by Lanka Data, aimed at making public information more accessible, searchable, and useful through modern AI systems.

Beyond legal intelligence, Chat2Find has also developed a growing range of expert AI models powered by Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technologies. These specialised systems are designed for business, taxation, education, and other sectors, delivering domain-specific answers with greater relevance and reliability. These expert models are expected to work alongside the Chat2Find LLM, which was released in April 2026, creating a broader ecosystem of locally developed AI tools.

For the legal profession, the new LankaLaw platform is expected to significantly improve productivity and research efficiency. Lawyers, paralegals, law firms, and law students can now search legal materials not only through traditional methods such as case names or citations, but also by advanced keyword filters including action type, judge names, counsel names, subject matter, and legal principles. This makes research faster, more precise, and more practical for modern legal work.

The simultaneous updating of judgments as they are officially released is another major step forward. It means users can rely on LankaLaw as a single destination for current and historical legal information, without delays or subscription barriers. Importantly, this service is offered without a paywall, making legal knowledge more accessible to professionals and the public alike.

As Sri Lanka continues its digital transformation, LankaLaw’s latest launch marks another milestone in the development of homegrown AI solutions. By combining legal expertise, data accessibility, and cutting-edge search technology, LankaLaw is not only modernising legal research—but helping shape the future of justice and information access in Sri Lanka.
