Sri Lanka’s state-owned enterprises, national carrier SriLankan Airlines and power supplier Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) owes the state-run fuel suppler Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Rs. 67 billion for fuel supplies, the Secretary to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development Upali Marasinghe said.
The unpaid dues from the CEB amounts to Rs 46 billion and Rs 14 billion from SriLankan Airlines.
Under these conditions, it has become difficult to run the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, the Secretary has said.
The CPC has said that they will stop the fuel supplies on credit to SriLankan Airlines if the outstanding amount is not paid by Wednesday (04).
The CPC has reportedly informed the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and the Presidential Secretariat of its decision to cut off fuel supplies to SriLankan Airlines.
