Denmark’s Orana to invest $ 1.5 mn to set up fruit processing plant in Sri Lanka

Denmark-based Orana, one of the world’s largest suppliers of fruit based raw materials for dairy products, beverages and bakery products plans to invest US$ 1.5 million to set up a fruit processing plant in Sri Lanka.

The Danish company has made a request to acquire a two-acre plot of land in the Pannala Industrial Estate, a statement on cabinet decisions said.

The company is planning to invest US $ 1.5 million in the first phase of the proposed project, which will create about 30 new jobs.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal made by the Minister of Industry and Supply Management to award a block of land from the Pannala Industrial Estate to implement the project, subject to an agreement between the ORANA and the Industrial Development Board.
