Media reports which claimed that a second coronavirus patient was found in Sri Lanka are baseless, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, the Chief Epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health has said.
The Department of Government Information, issuing a statement in this regard, noted that the only confirmed case of coronavirus in the island was the Chinese woman who was admitted to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) last month.
According to Dr. Samaraweera, this coronavirus patient too has regained her health, the statement read further.
In the meantime, the number of fatalities caused by the 2019-nCoV surpassed 1,000 lives in mainland China, while 42,000 confirmed cases were reported.
Around the world, 319 cases in 24 other countries were confirmed. Two people out of China have died from the novel coronavirus.
