Former Executive Director of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Thushan Gunawardena has filed a complaint with the Police over the suspicious activities of an unidentified group in a white van close to his residence.
According to the Divaina newspaper, Gunawardena, filing a complaint in this regard with the Kirulapone Police, has claimed that the suspicious white van had arrived near his house on Thursday morning (07).
A neighbour had informed him that an individual in the van had gotten out of the vehicle and had checked the number on the house gate, he said.

Stating that he had informed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) a month ago on receiving death threats, Gunawardena said the CID is yet to obtain a statement from him in this regard.
Thushan Gunawardena’s recent revelations on the various financial malpractices underway at the Consumer Affairs Authority led to the uncovering of the ‘Garlic scam’ involving State-owned enterprise Lanka Sathosa.
Speaking to the media, he had also blamed Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena and State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna over their conduct.
