Former Prime Minister of Japan Yukio Hatoyama, who is visiting Sri Lanka, met President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s House Thursday (14th).
Engaging in a cordial discussion with the President, the former Prime Minister of Japan recalled the past friendship between the two countries.
President Sirisena commended the former Japanese Prime Minister’s visit to Sri Lanka and said an invitation to visit Sri Lanka again would be extended to him in the future.The Japanese Prime Minister Dr. Yukio Hatoyama has arrived in Sri Lanka to take part in the ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the new Sadaham Seva building at the International Buddhist Center in Polgasowita Dhamma Sevana.
The 17-story building is constructed with a private donation of the former Japanese Prime Minister at a cost of Rs. 2.5 billion
At present the center provides lessons the English and Japanese languages to the children and in the future a Vocational Training Center is to be established.
During the meeting Mr. Hotoyama exchanging ideas with the President on the proposed center said he hopes to assist Sri Lanka to reduce traffic congestion and to provide clean drinking water to the public.
The Chief Incumbent of the Buddhist Dhamma Sevana Ven. Suduhumpola Wimalasara Thera and the Japanese delegation also participated in the occasion.
