Fuel situation update from Ministry of Power & Energy

The Ministry of Power and Energy says it believes that fuel stocks expected to arrive in the next three days will gradually put an end to the fuel queues in the country.

Accordingly, adequate stocks of Diesel, Super Diesel, Petrol 92, 95 and crude oil are expected to arrive in the country in the next 3 days.

Newly appointed minister of power and energy Kanchana Wijesekera has established an operation center consisting of SL Army, SL Air Force, Police, Department of Railways and all other related stakeholders who work around the clock to ensure the fuel supply chain is maintained without any issue.

Meanwhile, the Minister has also held discussions with representatives of the filling station owners’ association and the fuel bowser transporters association to streamline the distribution process.

Accordingly, several decisions have been taken to increasing the efficiency by timely ordering, streamlining of the ordering process, notification of filling station stock details in the morning and night, expediting of delivery from all three terminals continuously and deploying more workers at fuel pumps in filling stations.
