Fishing and related dried production in Mannar district has been severely affected due to the ongoing economic crisis and fuel shortage in the country.
Fishermen who are engaged in fishing activities are not able to carry out fishing activities due to unavailability of adequate quantity of kerosene required for fishing activities.
At the same time, there is a need to stand in long queues and buy limited quantities of kerosene
Fish prices have risen sharply due to the lack of fish stocks, which has severely affected dried fish production and dried fish prices.
Due to this people are not able to buy even the embryos at present
Anchovies sold for 900 rupees last month and are now priced at 1150 rupees
It is noteworthy that the price has increased to 1350 rupees from 1100 rupees sold last month
