The Kandy Esala Perahera will continue despite the nationwide lockdown as a mark of respect to the Sacred Tooth Relic, said Army Commander General Shavendra Silva.
This historical procession is held annually to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha, which is housed at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.
The Kandy Esela Perahera lasts for ten days while various festivities can be witnessed right through out.
