The National Elections Commission will meet tonight. It will be chaired by Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya.
The date for the issuance of nominations for local government polls is scheduled to be discussed.
The Commission earlier said, the announcement for the issuance of nominations will be made on November 27.

However, the Appeals Court imposed an injunction order suspending the execution of the gazette notifying the demarcation of Provincial Council limits until December 4.
The Appeals Court issued this order after considering a petition forwarded by six voters.
The Elections Committee is due to pay attention to the current legal situation with the decision taken by the Appeals Court, at today’s meeting.
Meanwhile, a meeting of party leaders was held last evening to discuss about holding Provincial Council Elections.
According to a News1st correspondent, the meeting which was chaired by the Speaker, was adjourned without having arrived at a solution.
