Over 100mm rain expected today: Met. Dept

Heavy rains exceeding 100 mm is expected in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts due to the South-West monsoon which is likely to be gradually established across the island during next few days, the Department of Meteorology said today.

However, thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern Provinces, it said. Several spells of showers will occur in the North-Western Province, the department said.

Showers will occur in th3 Uva and Eastern Provinces during the evening or night. Strong winds upto 45 kmph can be expected at times over the Island.
