State Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Roshan Ranasinghe said that the relevant details related to the holding of the Provincial Council Elections including a possible time-frame is being prepared and this will be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers shortly.
He said that the Minister in charge of the subject will submit these proposals to the Cabinet in the near future.
The State Minister made this comment while expressing his views to the media, subsequent to a function held at the Kandy, Hindu Cultural Hall.
He emphasized the fact that attention has been focused on a number of facts including the prevailing background for holding the election, when preparing the relevant series of proposals and once it is handed over, the Cabinet will take the future steps.
He also said that special consideration has to be given to recommendations given by health sectors regarding elections to be held in the future.
The State Minister further said that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is prepared to face an election at any time and that they have conducted elections on time.
