Registrar of the Asgiri Chapter, Ven. Medagama Dhammananda Thero says that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has responded to the letter sent by Chief Prelates of the three Chapters over the current situation.
“President in a letter to the Chief Prelates of the three Chapters states that he agrees to form an interim government, will take immediate steps to resolve the economic crisis” Ven. Medagama Dhammananda Thero told Adaderana.
In a statement last week, The Chief Prelates called upon the President, Prime Minister, Opposition Leader and all party leaders to implement their proposals to resolve the present crisis.
Chief Prelates warned that they would declare a ‘Sangha Convention’ if no solution is given to the current crisis.
Theros also demanded to repeal the 20th amendment and reintroduce the 19th amendment to the constitution.
