Deputy Treasury Secretary S R Attygalle has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs.
The ministerial portfolio of Finance and Economic Affairs is held by newly appointed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who officially assumed duties in the position at the ministry this morning (31).
Mr. Attygalle is a Senior Economist of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and has also served as a Director and Acting Chairman of National Savings Bank and a Director to the Board of Bank of Ceylon.
He served as the Director General of Department and Fiscal Policy and the Director General of Department of Public Enterprises of the Ministry of Finance till the end of 2011.
He is presently a Deputy Secretary to the Treasury. He is also serving as a Director to the Board of National Savings Bank, a Member on the Board of University Grants Commission and the Board of Management of the Superior Courts Complex.
Mr. Attygalle holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Mathematics from the University of Colombo and a Master’s Degree in Economics from Warwick University, United Kingdom.
