Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has asked President Maithripala Sirisena to show a majority in parliament in the SLFP/UPFA members are able to do so.
The Premier has made this statement during a meeting with the President last night.
The President had informed Wickremesinghe that the SLFP/UPFA members in government had informed him that they command a majority in government and that they could form a government under a new Prime Minister.
Wickremesinghe has then asked the President to show the majority.
