4.2 million Sri Lankans to get Covid Vaccine in the first round

Health Minister Pavithra Waniarachchi informed Parliament yesterday (27), that the Covid-19 vaccine will be received by 4.2 million Sri Lankan citizens once released to the market.

She stated that the first round of vaccines will be provided to 20% of Sri Lanka’s population.

The Health Minister said that a national committee has been appointed to look into COVID-19 vaccines despite vaccines still being in trial stages and with no fixed date for its availability to the public.

Three technical subcommittees have been appointed to focus on matters such as target groups for the vaccine, prioritization, cost, and usage, she added.
