The police have arrested a person with over 5 kilograms of heroin worth over Rs. 60 million.
The officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau acting on a tip off arrested the suspect along with a three-wheeler near the Ceypetco gas station located on the Malabe-Kaduwela road at around 8.50 p.m. last night.
According to the police the suspect was in the possession of 5 kilograms and 24 grams of heroin. The Heroin stock intended for sale is estimated to be worth over Rs. 60.288 million.
The 53-year-old suspect named Bulathsinhalage Rajith Nilantha Cooray is a resident of Obeysekara Pura, Rajagiriya and Pattiyawatta, Kotelawala, Kaduwela.
The police will produce the suspect before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today (17) and seek a seven-day detention order.
The Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting further investigations into the incident.
