CAA takes 400 Colombo traders to court

The Consumer Affairs Authority has taken legal action against 400 traders who sold coconuts at a higher rate than the established price control, following raids conducted in several areas in Colombo in the last few days.

According to the Consumer Affairs Authority, the government has announced the maximum price of the sale of a coconut to be Rs.75 as per the gazette.

Accordingly, the authority stated that raids are still being carried out and that complaints can be made to the short code 1977.

Meanwhile, lawsuits against 2000 traders have been made by the Consumer Affairs Authority with regard to the violation of the consumer laws during the festive season.
