The case against the General Secretary of Bodu Bala Sena (BBC) organization, Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera on the charges of the contempt of court was taken for hearing today at the Appeals Court in Colombo.
Ven Pititgala Dhammadinna Thera gave evidence today. The case was postponed to 11th December and the court ordered to summon the Officer-In-Charge of Homagama Police and the jailors to give evidence on that day.
Gnanasara Thera was charged due to his behavior in court during the hearing of the case on the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda in January last year.
During the hearing of the case against those accused of abducting journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda was taking place at the Homagama Magistrate Court, the controversial Thera entered the court shouting at the officials and lawyers, and according to reports also threatening Ekneligoda’s wife, Sandhya Ekneligoda.
The controversial Thera, who surrendered to the authorities after the incident, was remanded on three charges including threatening public officials, obstructing court proceedings and contempt of court.
