Deputy Minister of Finance and Mass Media and Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA), Lasantha Alagiyawanna yesterday said he will present the most comprehensive report by COPA on 831 State institutions to the parliament tomorrow (November 13).
Speaking to media at the Parliament complex yesterday, the Deputy Minister said the report will consist of the accounts of the 831 state institutions for 2015. He said it was the first time ever in Sri Lanka’s parliamentary history such a comprehensive report would be presented.
Alagiyawanna also said that state institutions which have maintained its accounts in proper order will be felicitated at a function to be held tomorrow under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
Among the institutions, the COPA examined include 50 ministries, 91 departments, 25 District Secretariats, 45 Provincial Ministries, 23 Municipal Councils, 41 urban councils and 271 Pradeshiya Sabhas.
He said the report of the COPA for 2016 will be presented to the House before the end of this year.
