Eggs should be sold by weight to provide relief: Poultry Association

Eggs should be sold by weight to address the problems caused by the imposing of the maximum retail price introduced in August last year, All-Island Poultry Association President Ajith Gunasekara said.

“The Bakery industry already purchases eggs by weight, which also decides the prices of their products,” Gunasekara said.

A kilogram of eggs would consist of at least 16 to 20 eggs, he said. “Eggs being sold by weight would provide relief to the consumer,” he added.
