Emmerson Mnangagwa to succeed Robert Mugabe

The news of the resignation of 93-year-old Robert Mugabe on Tuesday, November 21, sparked celebrations across the country.

The news came in the form of a letter read out in parliament, halting the impeachment proceedings that were against him.

According to the letter, Mugabe was resigning to allow a smooth and peaceful transfer of power. He has stated that the decision was made voluntarily.
