Illicit liquor finds a new home in the Southern and North Central provinces

The customs department states that they have monitored an increase in the production of illicit liquor in the Southern and North Central provinces.

Customs spokesperson, assistant customs commissioner Kapila Kumarasinghe noted that constant raids conducted in coastal areas extending from Puttlam to Colombo has prompted illicit liquor producers to relocate to the Southern and North Central Provinces.

Kumarasinghe noted that the customs department is preparing to launch islandwide raids in order to ensure that such illicit activities do not take root in any area.
