Joint Opposition representative Parliamentarian DV Chanaka says the Jana Balaya protest organised for the 5th of September will see a number larger than those who gathered at the Galleface Green last year.
Speaking to media MP said the government has largely betrayed the country’s youth.
The Parliamentarian said the Joint Opposition has received information claiming twice as many as the crowd that came to the May day rally last year will join the Jana Balaya protest.
He noted the reason is that the issues such as the debt burden, the cost of living, loans and unemployment have doubled at present in comparison to the issues in 2017.
MP DV Chanaka stated therefore the numbers have doubled in preparation to cover Colombo in protest.
The Parliamentarian noted the present administration came into power with the support of the youth adding however this government is going against the youth.
MP Chanaka stressed this protest is a medium for the youth to protest against such action.
