Mathilda Karlsson a Sri Lankan show jumper has qualified to represent her country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. For Sri Lanka this is a trailblazing event – not once before in its 71 year old history has independent Sri Lanka been represented at equestrian events at any Olympics.

Mathilda was born in Sri Lanka and adopted by Swedish parents when just three months old. Recently she reverted to her Sri Lankan nationality and hopes to bring international recognition to the land of her birth at the Olympics. Mathilda is a consistent rider on the Longines Global Champions Tour and a current member of the Global Champions League .

Mathilda was said to be jumping at the chance to make a name not only for herself but also her land of birth – Sri Lanka.

Insiders reveal that the Sri Lanka Tourism Authority are pursuing Miss Karlsson to possibly engage in a spot of co-branding using her reputation in the equestrian world.
