LARGEST POPULATION IS IN SRILANKA
Sri Lanka’s new Minister of Mass media appears to have his figures in a twist. In a podcast with a Hong Kong based network covering world events, Godahewa made the startling revelation that his President Gothabya Rajapaksa was elected by 6.9 BILLION voters. For all the three different disciplines and the Doctorate Godahewa has, he apparently slipped up- as even China doesn’t have 6.9 BILLION people. Nalaka Godahewa ought to have said 6.9 million. Broadcaster Faraz Shauketaly who is our Managing Editor, said that “although this was apparently a slip of the tongue, it is symptomatic of the rushed, unpreparedness of the Gothabya Rajapaksa administration”.
