It has been planned to conduct schools continuously from next Monday till November without the August vacation, Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said.
It is highly important to cover syllabuses, which are badly affected by COVID-19 pandemic and power crisis.
Training sessions for 24 main subjects for the students appearing for the Advanced Level Examination this year will be conducted by university system.
Minister Premajayantha also said that this program is aimed at children who have not been able to do their education properly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the current crisis in the country during the last two years.
Accordingly, teachers will be able to prepare students for the exam through additional teaching aids.
After conducting the delayed Grade 5 Scholarship Examination on November 27, the Advanced Level examination has also been arranged to be held from November 28 to December 23.
According to the Minister, it is planned to hold schools from next Monday without holidays until the end of November to cover the missed studies.
The Minister also said that surveys have already been conducted through scientific methods to identify the current performance levels of children who have lost primary education in Grades 1 and 2 and enter Grade 3. Based on those reports, the future education activities of those students will be planned.
He revealed these facts after handing over appointment letters to 155 officials, who obtained equal marks based on the limited competitive examination of the Sri Lanka Principal Service 2018/2019. They were awarded new appointment letters of the Sri Lanka Principal Service.
The Minister also commented on school transport and mentioned that in addition to ‘Sisusarya’, a bus service called ‘Pasal Seva’ using private buses for the transport of school children is expected to be put into operation across the country by next Monday.
Education Secretary N.M. Ranasinghe and other Ministry officials were present on this occasion.
