Police fire tear gas after Kataragama shooting

A motorcyclist who drove away, defying orders, in Kataragama, died due to police shooting.

According to the Police Media Spokesperson, Ruwan Gunasekara, a group of people had stoned the Kataragama Police after the incident.

Furthermore, he stated that tear gas was fired in order to disperse the crowds.

The victim is a 44-year-old resident of Nagahavidiya, Kataragama.

His body has been placed at the Kataragama Hospital.

The police media spokesperson stated that the police officer, who allegedly shot the motorcyclist, has been arrested.
