The United Postal Trade Unions’ Front warns that they will relaunch the trade union action if postal employees are not paid their salary for the month of June.
The Co-Convener of the United Postal Trade Unions’ Front Chinthaka Bandara said that if the postal workers were not given their salaries due for June by tomorrow, they will commence a strike again.
Bandara said a cabinet paper is to be submitted to not to pay salaries for six days to the employees who were engaged in the strike last month. Postal authorities have been informed on this in writing, Bandara further stated.
The postal trade unions suspended their 16 day-long strike from midnight on June 26th. The striking employees were ordered to report to work on June 19th.
The government has decided not to pay salaries for the days the employees were on strike after they were ordered to report to work.
