Sri Lanka’s Colombo Consumers Price Index (CCPI) for all items for the month of October 2017 was 120.8, an increase of 1.1 index points or 0.98 percentage points compared to the month of September 2017, the Department of Census and Statics said.
This represents an increase of expenditure value by 705.21 rupees in the “Market Basket”, the statement said.
The year on year inflation as measured by CCPI is 7.8 percent in October 2017 and inflation calculated for September was 7.1 percent.
YoY inflation of food group has increased from 10.4 percent in September to 12.6 percent in October 2017 and that
of non‐food group has increased from 5.5 percent to 5.8 percent during this period.
For the month of October 2017, on year to year basis, contribution to inflation by food commodities was
3.71 percent.
The contribution of non food items was 4.05 percent.
