The Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara on Monday issued warrants against the two parliamentarians since they have failed to appear in Court when a case filed against them was taken up for hearing. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police today informed the court that it has sought the advice of Attorney General on the threatening remarks made by the former UPFA Southern Provincial Council Minister D. V. Upul against the officers of the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID). The former councilor, addressing a public gathering in Hambanthota on May 31, 2015, had allegedly threatened to stone to death the officers attached to the FCID once Mahinda Rajapaksa returned to power as the Prime Minister.
