Foundation laid for National Stroke Center to be established in Colombo East hospital
A National Stroke Center for the multidisciplinary care of stroke patients in Sri Lanka is to be set up at the Colombo East Hospital in Mulleriyawa.
The Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has recently laid foundation stone to establish the National Stroke Center and the Accident and Emergency Care center at the Colombo East Hospital in Mulleriyawa recently.
Expressing his views at the event, Minister Senaratne said non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the main threat to health and accidents are one of the reasons for the NCDs. He added that about 4,000 people die in a year from accidents and many more people are affected.
